Eagle App — Powerful tool for Visual Research

I have been using Eagle App for over a year and I am surprised that people in the industry and the online community seem to have not heard of this extremely effective tool for storing and managing images, videos, audios, and design files.

The easiest and most intuitive way is to go to the homepage https://eagle.cool/. And here to explain briefly, the way Eagle App works is a mix of Pinterest + folder manager + screenshot tool + many other support functionsToday I will review some outstanding functions of Eagle App, a powerful tool for extremely effective Visual Research:

1. The way to save photos is so convenient

Everything is as simple as people usually save photos when surfing the web, right-click and press the save button, or Eagle App even supports a more convenient method of dragging and a popup appears, just drop it in and it's done (see the introductory video link for more information). In addition, Eagle App also supports filming, taking screenshots of the screen, ... and other quite powerful functions such as 'Batch Save' helps save all photos in one click, or 'Capture Website' (very sharp if used with Macbook's Retina screen) an indispensable feature when doing UI/UX.

Another cool thing is that Eagle App can save almost all image and video formats on websites that restrict downloads such as Instagram, Behance (recently), including WEBP, SVG, MP4..., making research no longer inconvenient.

2. Tag your images

For example, if you have an illustration in a flat style and another in a 3D style, you can put these two works in the same folder called 'Illustration', but how to distinguish and easily filter them when reviewing them? You can create 2 more folders '3D' or 'Flat style', however if you want to continue to differentiate where they come from 'West' good 'Asia' So how do you manage folders? That's the problem with folder management, and attaching tags is a more effective solution. It makes filtering and managing images easy and provides more information value.

3. Supports a wide variety of image, video, design, and many other formats

Eagle App was born to manage images, so it seems that all popular vector and pixel formats on the market are well supported such as PNG, JPEG, SVG, WEBP, RAW GIF images, MP4, MOV, PDF files, PSD, typeface! In addition to basic needs such as displaying preview images, cropping, rotating, trimming videos, ... Eagle App also has many other interesting functions such as 'Combo Image' combine multiple pictures together for easy comparison or present, 'Reverse Search Image' to search the image in reverse on Google, 'Analyzing Color' create color palette from an image, and many other useful functions that a normal folder manager doesn't have.

4. Optimize for image display

When browsing images using current folder managers such as Explore on Windows, Finder on Macbook, or Cloud Services such as Gdrive, Dropbox,... the display space feels cramped and complicated, and Eagle App helps us bring the experience of browsing images exactly like when using Pinterest (you can see the traditional 'Water Fall' or 'Grid' layout).

5. Other functions

Supports password setting, easy sync on cloud services, color filter, supports Windows and macOS, extension works on many browsers, can upload in bulk to Pinterest,...

6. Essential plugins

To increase the power of the tool many times, I list some other visual research tools such as

  1. Pinterest visual search – Automatically searches images saved in Eagle and finds similar images on Pinterest. Personally, the results are much better than using pure Pinterest. This is my favorite plugin.
  2. AI Increases image resolution – So good, you can see Eimi Fukuda's pores.
  3. Some tools like AI to separate background, crop images to multiple sizes at once, compress images, change image formats, support previewing 3D files...bla bla. Saves a lot of steps or having to open Photoshop.

Conclusion

I bought Eagle App for 30$ / 2 computers, for me this price is acceptable in the Vietnamese market compared to what it helps with work. 🙂

This is really a very effective tool for my workflow. I really want to share it with everyone, hoping to somehow improve my current workflow. If you have any questions or concerns, please comment below!
